Hi

I have heard that it is illegal to use any type of flashing light on your bike, in the UK at least. Does anybody know if this is true? I find this a bit strange as it seems that many shops sell flashing LED lights aimed at cyclists.

Everything and more that you could want to know about lighting regulations from the CTC

http://www.ctc.org.uk/DesktopDefault.aspx?TabID=4071

In summary no it is not illegal to use flashing lights on your bike.

Not only are flashing lights not illegal on bikes, the law in the UK was specifically changed a few years ago to permit flashing lights. Occasionally the legislators do get something right!
